Description
Hollingshead's crew lost 18 men when they tried to take refuge in the Dittman cabin on the West Fork of Big Creek in the St. Joe River drainage. As the cabin burned they attempted to flee out the door only to fatally inhale smoke and gases and fall into a pile just outside the cabin. Most were burned beyond recognition.
