Date of photo 1910
Description Wallace rebuilt quickly after the Great Fire of 1910 as it had back in 1890 when the town burnt to the ground. For more on Wallace and the fire see the "Wallace Experience" exhibit. The forests have regenerated, yet some scars still remain 100 years later.

Image 1: Wallace thrives and the hillsides are green again. Courtesy of the Historic Wallace Chamber of Commerce.

Image 2: The Coeur d' Alene National Forest lives on with scars from the Big Burn such as this cedar snag on the North Fork of the Coeur d' Alene River. WDMM Collection.
