Description
These pictures show the utter devastation of what was once dense forest in the upper end of the West Fork of Placer Creek. Pulaski's crew hurried down the creek to seek safety in Wallace. They did not make it that far before the fire storm overtook them. Image 1: Burnt ridge tops and creek bottoms on the West Fork of Placer Creek. Courtesy of USFS District 1 Archives.
