Description Shaker, Salt & Pepper - This metal lid is probably made from pewter or some other soft decorative silver-like metal. There is no way to tell for sure whether this is a salt or a pepper shaker in that no standard has ever been set for size or number of holes. Some people believe that pepper was the more expensive seasoning and should go in the cap with the fewer holes, while others believe salt is the larger of the two grains that and that it should flow from the lid with fewer, larger holes. Unfortunately, other people believe just the opposite.
