Abstract As the fire approached Wallace, Roy Kingsbury, supply agent for the Federal Mining and Smelting Company and part owner of the Wallace Hospital , coordinated the evacuation of the Wallace Hospital with the aid of Mayor Water Hanson and Dr. St. Jean. The mayor coordinated with Bill Osburn for the Osburn Hospital in Osburn to take the patients of the three hospitals in Wallace; the Wallace Hospital at the corner of 1st and Cedar Streets, the Hope Hospital on the southeast corner of Bank and 5th Streets, and the Providence Hospital at the east end of town. Wagons and carriages from Sutherlands Livery and Garrett Transfer and Coal transported the patients from the Wallace and Hope Hospitals to Osburn. The evacuation of the Providence Hospital is another story.
