Description
|
| The Sunset Brewery was on the wrong side of the fire break. As the fire gutted the building, kegs and barrels of beer burst. Foam spilled out into the street where firefighters waded through it. The building was refurbished after the fire. In another story related to beer, Mayor Hanson noted that the city's water was no longer potable. On seeing the proprietor of the Wallace Bar closing his doors, Mayor Hanson directed him to reopen the bar so the men could have beer to drink. The man protested that the Sheriff ordered him to close. The Mayor responded that he would deal with the Sheriff and to keep the bar open. So the men of Wallace had beer to drink the rest of the night. |
